Lafayette Parish corrections officer arrested for malfeasance
Tyler Bonnet, a corrections officer for the Lafayette Parish Jail, was arrested Thursday for malfeasance in office after reportedly bringing drugs into the jail.
Capt. John Babin with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office said Bonnet is on leave without pay pending the outcome of the investigation. The sheriff’s office will not release any details on the arrest until the investigation is complete.
Bonnet’s charges, however, indicate it was marijuana.
Bonnet, 21, was booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail on charges of malfeasance in office, distribution of Schedule I/marijuana and taking contraband to/from a penal institution.
