L. Clayton Burgess
L. Clayton Burgess opened his own practice in 1999. He is an impressive trial advocate as he has successfully tried and won numerous large dollar verdicts. He has been included on lists such as “America’s Premier Lawyers” and has appeared in articles such as Forbes and Newsweek. His success comes as a result of his tireless devotion to his clients’ causes.
He handles complex personal injury, wrongful death, admiralty, and employment law. He has significant appellate and motion practice experience against large companies. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana and Texasas well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition, he is admitted in the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts of Louisiana and the Southern District of Texas.
He is on the Board of Governors for the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the following organizations: the State Bar of Louisiana, the State Bar of Texas, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Lafayette Bar Association.
He attended college at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. After receiving a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona in 1991, he attended the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. He was a semi-finalist in the 1993-1994 Louisiana State University Flory Trial Competition and went on to receive his Juris Doctor in 1994.
Lauren L. Gardner
Lauren L. Gardner is the newest associate of the Law Offices of L. Clayton Burgess. She is originally from Cut Off, Louisiana. Her specialties are in the areas of personal injury, labor & employment law, and maritime law.
While attending Louisiana State University, she was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Golden Key International Honor Society. After graduating cum laude in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in political science, Lauren attended the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. During law school, she clerked for Chief Judge Henry N. Brown for the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeals. She received her Juris Doctor in 2006.
She is an active member of her community as she has been an LSU Law Mentor and has volunteered at the East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office.
She was admitted to practice law in Louisiana in 2006 as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana.
