L. Clayton Burgess opened his own practice in 1999. He is an impressive trial advocate as he has successfully tried and won numerous large dollar verdicts. He has been included on lists such as “America’s Premier Lawyers” and has appeared in articles such as Forbes and Newsweek. His success comes as a result of his tireless devotion to his clients’ causes.
He handles complex personal injury, wrongful death, admiralty, and employment law. He has significant appellate and motion practice experience against large companies. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana and Texasas well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition, he is admitted in the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts of Louisiana and the Southern District of Texas.
He was formerly on the Board of Governors for the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the following organizations: the State Bar of Louisiana, the State Bar of Texas, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Lafayette Bar Association.
He attended college at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. After receiving a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona in 1991, he attended the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. He was a semi-finalist in the 1993-1994 Louisiana State University Flory Trial Competition and went on to receive his Juris Doctor in 1994.
Isaac E. Khalid
Isaac Khalid is an attorney who practices at the Baton Rouge location of the Law Offices of L. Clayton Burgess. Prior to joining the firm in 2016, Isaac spent over 6 years as a litigator at a prominent insurance defense firm in Shreveport. His experience as a former member of the defense bar is invaluable to understanding how insurers and adjusters approach a claim, and he now puts this knowledge to work to ensure our clients get the best possible outcome from insurance companies, whether by trial or by settlement.
Isaac is experienced in matters involving personal injury, auto liability, workers’ compensation, premises liability, federal employment discrimination claims, and redhibition law, and has litigated in courtrooms in virtually every corner of the state. He is licensed to practice in all Louisiana courts, United States District Court for the Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Isaac received his B.A. from Louisiana State University, and his J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University (2008). He is a member of the Louisiana and Baton Rouge Bar Associations, and a former member of the Shreveport Bar Association, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, and the Harry V. Booth and Judge Henry A Politz American Inn of Court.
Isaac and his wife, Sarah, are the proud parents of a young son and daughter. Isaac enjoys spending time with his family, LSU sports, travel, photography, and soccer.
Sean McAllister joined the firm in April of 2014, a month before graduating from Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. Sean was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from LSU in December of 2010. Sean started his legal career as an extern for the Honorable Judge C. Michael Hill of the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana during the summer of 2012. While he attended law school, Sean gained extensive experience working in personal injury law, maritime law, and family law. In addition, Sean competed in various Moot Court competitions during law school, earning semi-finalist honors in the Chancellor’s Cup Senior Appellate Challenge in his final semester.
After graduating from law school and receiving his Juris Doctor, Sean successfully passed the July 2014 Louisiana State bar exam and officially became a licensed Louisiana attorney in October of 2014. His practice is primarily focused in the areas of traditional personal injury law, maritime law, and mass tort litigation.
