Citizens met with State Representative Vincent Pierre at a local coffee shop today to ask questions, get updates on the legislature, and learn about law reform. Representative Pierre represents Lafayette Parish in the state legislature. He explained the status on relevant issues that have been addressed in the Louisiana Legislature this year, including crime in Lafayette, state minimum wage reform, cigarette taxes, and medicinal marijuana.
He offered statistics on what the citizens of Lafayette want to see change:
50.35% want to end or limit the movie tax credits
89.76% want to reform the criminal sentences for minor drug offenses
80.41% want to raise the minimum wage in Louisiana
