Risperdal® (risperidone) is an antipsychotic medication used to treat schizophrenia, symptoms of irritability in autistic children, and symptoms of bipolar disorder. A side effect associated with the use of Risperdal is gynecomastia, the enlargement of breast tissue in boys and men.

Although gynecomastia is not life threatening, it can cause pain, embarrassment, and other psychological or emotional problems. If you or someone you love developed gynecomastia after using Risperdal, you may be eligible for compensation to cover the cost of a mastectomy as well as for the emotional pain and suffering caused by the condition.

Gynecomastia is the swelling of one or both breast tissue in boys or men. Symptoms include:

  • Breast tenderness
  • Swelling of the breast gland tissue

Boys and men who taking Risperdal should seek medical attention if:

  • Breast swelling
  • Pain or tenderness in one or both breasts
  • Nipple discharge in one or both breasts
