Local News, National Attention
The Maegan Barras case continues to garner national attention.
Inside Edition was in Lafayette to interview Maegan Barras about the Facebook video posting that resulted in her unlawful arrest.
Unlawful Arrest
This is what my son brought home today. This clip is from our own Acadiana High School. This should not be happening. Why do we have to worry so much about our kids at SCHOOL? Listen to his head hitting that concrete bench. I can’t even.
The video in question was of a fight that occurred between two students at her son’s high school. Maegan posted the video, along with a message.
On February 20, 2019, the day after posting the video and comment on Facebook she was arrested and spent the night in jail, charged with unlawful posting of criminal activity for notoriety and publicity.
No Criminal Charges
On February 26, 2019 the District Attorney announced that he would not be prosecuting the charges.
